Two more days until Valentine’s Day… I’m sure that our school will be awash in pink and red balloons, candy and flowers. It’s so much more a holiday for one gender, isn’t it?

Here’s what we did:

Juniors: We almost finished Walden. We will finish it class on Thursday, since tomorrow you’ll be taking the EOCT checkpoint exam. HW: None but BRING YOUR PENCIL  TOMORROW!

Sophomores: We finished the LOTF movie. Most of you were not big fans of it — I think it’s really hard to make a movie of such a symbolic book. The actors in this movie were not trained actors and it’s definitely apparent in parts of the movie.  You took your vocabulary quiz before the movie.

HW: Study your notes in preparation for Thursday’s test.

That’s it. For a complete look at this week’s schedule, go to Monday’s post.

Adios.

Mrs. B :)

Greetings students….

Happy Monday!  Here’s what we did:

Juniors: We reviewed Transcendentalism and added vocabulary words from page 401. This makes a total of 17 vocabulary words for your quiz on Tuesday, Feb. 20 (remember, we don’t have school on President’s Day so your weekly quiz is being moved to Tuesday). Your previous words that you copied after your test on Thursday are on page 387.   We read the background to Henry David Thoreau on page 400 and you wrote down a couple of main ideas that I instructed you to. Then, we began reading the excerpt in our textbook from Walden. HW: None

Schedule for the remaining week:

Tues. 2/12 – Read Walden; discuss and take notes.

Wed. 2/13 – American Lit. EOCT mid-point exam.  No book needed, but bring your pencil. It’s important to do your best, as your results will tell you your strong and weak point so that you can correct them before you take your exam in May.

HW: Poetry assignment due Friday

Thur. 2/14 – Transcendentalist poetry; poetry assignment discussed

Fri., 2/15 – Poetry assignment due, go see Advanced Drama’s production of “The Teenage.”

Sophomores

We watched “Lord of the Flies” and in fourth period enjoyed some pizza while we watched it.  HW: Study for LOTF vocab. quiz #2 – words 26-49.

Schedule for the remaining week:

Tues. 2/12 – Finish the LOTF movie, take vocabulary quiz. HW: Study your notes for your test on Thursday.

Wed. 2/13 – Receive LOTF symbol essay back, discuss, revision date given, receive essay prompt, take notes all period, pass in notes for use on test tomorrow. Bring your books to class!

Thur. 2/14 – LOTF unit test — all essay. Bring your books to class!

Fri. 2/15 – Go see the Advanced Drama’s production of “The Teenage.”
