Greetings…

Here’s what we did on Friday:

Juniors: You received two handouts. The first one was a reflective question/answer sheet getting you to examine some of your own beliefs and compare them to Transcendentalism. The second one was a quotation sheet from Thoreau’s Walden. We discussed the first hand-out at length, then briefly discussed some of the ideas of Transcendentalism, getting us set-up for our new unit.  We also reviewed some important dates for the next week:

  • No vocabulary quiz on Monday
  • You need your book EVERY DAY NEXT WEEK.
  • On Wed. 2/13, you will take your mid-point EOCT American Lit. exam to see where you stand before you take the final in May.
  • On Friday, 2/15, we are going to see the advanced drama class’ production of “The Teenage.”

Sophomores: We watched “Lord of the Flies” — about 15 minutes and had a wonderful Chick-fil-A breakfast provided by Ainslee’s mom, Mrs. Johnson. Thanks, Mrs. Johnson!!

HW: None. Just remember you have your final LOTF vocabulary quiz on Tuesday.

Have a great weekend! Email me if you have questions!

Mrs. B :)

Hi all!

Here’s what we did on Thursday.

Juniors: You took your Romanticism Test. I have about six of you that were out again Friday and therefore weren’t able to schedule a make-up time with me for next week. Please look at the following times, choose one, and let me know on Monday when you’ll be coming in: Monday, 2/11 at 3:45 pm, Tuesday, 2/12 at 7:45 a.m, Tuesday, 2/13 at 3:40 p.m.  After the test, you were to read the following pages in your textbook (344-348). This is the background to Transcendentalism. Then, you were to copy down the vocabulary words that precede this unit.  NO HW if you did this reading in class after the test.

Sophomores: We finished our Socratic Seminar. Great job! HW: None. Tomorrow, 2nd period is having a breakfast and Monday, 4th period is having pizza while we watch the fabulous ’60’s film version of “Lord of the Flies.”

Adios.

Mrs. B
