flat_tire.jpgHappy Monday! (or as a student said to me today, “Is there really a happy Monday?”)

My answer today would be a resounding, “no!” I left my house this morning about 6:45 a.m., and at about 7 am heard a kathud, kathud and my steering column starting really shaking. ARGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! A flat tire! Darn it! I pulled over into Doublegate because that was the closest, safest place to pull over in and called my auto club who took an hour and 10 minutes to get there!!!! So, I sat in my car, listened to the radio, watched numerous busses pick up students and many parents drive their kids to school, all while I sat and waited and waited and waited. Thank God for Blackberries; I sat and emailed my department chair and numerous other people in my department to get them to watch my zero period or put a sign on my door.  So, needless to say, I felt very FRAZZLED this morning.

SAT PREP: No Class. Vocab. Quiz #4 canceled until tomorrow. We will review for our strategy test and have that Wednesday. I am going to postpone the parts of speech test until Friday.  HW: re-study for quiz #4

American Lit.: Today and tomorrow we are meeting in the media center to work on your portfolio. 1st period — About half of you worked and half of you did nothing or close to nothing. I was particularly aghast at those of you who didn’t seem to care much and then asked me, “what should we research?” You were given this project three weeks ago and it’s due in a week. 3rd period, you did much better –much more focused! Please get the handouts I gave today: Research Paper Checklist and Found Poem instructions on the American Lit. Handouts tab off this page. HW: WORK ON PORTFOLIO!!!

10th honors Lit.:  I gave you two handouts: the Research Paper Checklist and the Found Poem instructions. Get handouts under the 10th honors handouts tab at the top of this page. I then let you work on your portfolio all class. I spent most of the period helping you guys with your research and thesis statements. HW: Research Rough Draft due tomorrow.

That’s all!!!

Love,

Mrs. B
