Happy Monday! We have a very busy week in front of us, with Georgia’s Secretary of Education, Cathy Cox, coming tomorrow to congratulate us on several years of academic excellence. Yay, us!! Then, we have the Veteran’s Assembly on Friday. Both of these should be pretty exciting!   SAT PREP: Today, you took your To Be Verb Quiz #2, then I gave you time to copy down words (many of you had already) for tomorrow’s vocabulary quiz. Lastly, you took notes and we reviewed the noun and the pronoun. You copied down the following new information: personal pronoun chart (singular, plural and first, second, third person) and then: objective, nominative, and plural case for personal pronouns. HW: Study for Vocabulary Quiz #3.   American Literature: We were in the computer lab today and talked about the following: themes you could write about, how to brainstorm themes, how and how to write a working thesis statement.  Here are the themes that were written on the board:  lust and vengeance, mob mentality and hysteria, unfair justice system and revenge. You can certainly cover a theme not mentioned above, just get it checked off with me. Then, we brainstormed research topics: fact versus fiction, what really happened to the Salem girls? Arthur Miller, McCarthyism, biblical definition of witchcraft, and modern day witchhunts. HW: Research topic, three sources, and working thesis statement due Friday.  HW: Work on portfolio!! 10th honors:  Today we were in the computer lab. I reviewed what Mrs. Sharp went over with us on Friday and encouraged you to reserve books on the topic you are interested in. You worked all period doing pre-research, looking up information and narrowing down your topic. JE Vocab. Quiz #4 postponed until this Thur. 11/8. We are skipping JE Vocab. Quiz #5 and are resuming our normal quiz schedule next week.  HW: No reading but work on topic. On Friday, narrowed down topic due, three sources, and a working thesis. That’s all folks! I will let everyone know their 12 week progress report grade in class tomorrow!
